Those Cardiff kids sure know how to rock a City Beach!
Fed up because you’re stuck at work while everyone else is jetting off to foreign climes on their awesome sounding summer holidays?
Well, there’s no need to worry, coz help is at hand!
And what’s more, there’ll be no need to endure the heinous possibility of airport chaos this summer (thanks to striking French air traffic controllers) because UK Cities have everything you’ll need for a superb Summer Holiday — including that all important element - the beach!
So apart from loads of free events including cool, outdoor cinema screenings, yummy food festivals and heaps of brilliant (and frequently free) museums and galleries right around the UK to keep you busy…there are also some great urban beaches springing up all over the country.
Here’s 5 of our brilliant best urban beaches, now where’s that factor 50?!!
BeachEast @ QEOP - From 23rd July – 4th September
One thousand tons (yes, that’s 1000 tons!) of sand will be heaped on Stratford Waterfront, near Westfield and the Olympic Stadium, to make BeachEast Britain’s Copacabana this summer. Arriba!
The UK’s largest urban beach (by far) will feature a vast area of fine, deep sand, a huge kids paddling pool, funfair rides, two beach bars and a host of sporting events and activities. Come on! What is not to like?!!
Friends and families alike can and should enjoy The Beach fun and sunshine at East London’s sizzling new summer attraction. Grab your gear and get going right now!
Action For Kids Beach Volleyball – from 11 – 30th July
Sounds great…where’s it all happening? At fab Montgomery Square which is near Canary Wharf in London’s super trendy Docklands area.
Yup, the popular Action for Kid’s annual Beach Volleyball event is back with a pop up beach in the heart of Canary Wharf.
This time a mere 200 tons of sand are set to transform Montgomery Square for three week of summer fun and some mayhem building toward the highlight of the event which is the Championships, taking place on 22nd July.
Camden Round House – From 29th July – 29th August
Sorry, did you say Camden? The Chalk Farm Road…seriously?
Yes, we’re totally serious about our fun and sunshine, and there’s gonna be enough for everyone as( returning for its fifth year) Camden Beach will transform the Roundhouse’s terrace into the ultimate summer destination!
This year, The CRH is partnering with Virgin Holidays who’ll be bringing the best of Barbados to Camden via a beach BBQ and a host of great Caribbean themed events.
Camden Beach will once again be FREE for everyone to enjoy but to secure the best spot on the sand and to beat the queue (…and our ever alert Germans euro-cousins!), be sure to book one of the VIP beach huts.
Nottingham Beach – From 19th July – 2nd September
Where’s it all happening: In the Old Market Square in Nottingham of course!
Yup, the maddest, baddest and funnest (is that even a word?) beach in the Midlands returns to Old Market Square for more of the fun and games that made it so memorable last year! Jotting down those dates now: from Saturday 19th July until Tuesday 2nd September…joy!
Why not bring the whole family down? Just remember to grab your bucket, spade and beach ball before leaving the house and come down and have some free fun in the sun!
Come rain or shine, the beach is going to be open to everyone from 10 in the morning to 11 in the evening, and will be offering a full programme of entertainment for all ages to enjoy…hooray!
Cardiff Bay Beach – from July 22nd – September 4th
Where’s it all happening? At Roald Dahl Plaas in Cardiff Bay.
Get ready for Summer in the City because The Beach is Back…Welsh style!! The wonderful Welsh capital will once again create its own seafront with the return of the highly successful and popular Cardiff Bay Beach aiming to entertain families throughout the summer!
There will be lots of sand, and we mean LOTS, as well as plenty of seaside activities to make it fun for everyone. The welcoming Welsh will want a party vibe so the more the merrier…come on down, everybody’s welcome…even the English!
