Valentine’s Day?
Does it bring out the true romantic in all of us?
Or is it, as I would suggest (possibly somewhat controversially), just another day?
Not being one to get all soppy and weak in the knees about things - especially That Day - I thought I’d share my Alternative Valentines Day Ideas with you…
So don’t send him or her those overpriced bunch of flowers just yet (boring, boring, boring!) and hold off on booking that perfect table at The Ivy (the portions are too small anyway in my humble opinion)…because here are my alternative and affordable Alternative Valentine’s Day Ideas:
I can personally recommend this one. While out viewing serviced apartments in Milton Keynes once, and being a total adrenaline junkie, I had to investigate the Xscape centre. It’s very well organised and once I’d been talked through the safety points and suited up, I REALLY enjoyed the flight. Now THAT’S a great way to spend a morning or afternoon. As far as city tours go bus tours can be a little boring at times can’t they? And although I haven’t actually been on the Ghost Bus Tour myself (yet), I’ve heard awesome reviews about them. Their website promises a fear-filled and funny experience you'll never forget and the creepy conductor will keep you spooked! These creepily alternative city tours are available in both Edinburgh and London. I really do like the idea of a theatrical sightseeing tour on a classic 1960’s Routemaster. Now I just need to get myself booked on one of their tours and take someone with me that won't be laughing when I’m hiding behind the seats. Or even worse, trying to kiss me! Another personal recommendation…and if boats and water are your thing then you’re just gonna love this. Last summer I booked a trip with London RIB Voyages who I specifically chose (once you start researching you’ll see that there are quite a few companies doing this) as their Facebook page screams FUN and it looked like they knew how to have a good time. I went with a friend celebrating a birthday and we enjoyed a thrilling 40 minute experience! The crew even sang Happy Birthday to my friend! Get yourself booked and hold on tight! If like me you’re properly Anti Valentine ’s Day, then you'll like this. I came across this great event in London where romance is actually BANNED:
Bounce Anti-Valentine’s Day party – Saturday Feb 14, 9pm - 3am
“Forget extortionately priced V-Day menus – for £5, you play table tennis to your heart’s content and boogie on down to top DJ’s. There’ll be reverse romance tournaments and games to play, and you can make a night of it with an extra-garlicky pizza at Bounce’s Italian restaurant. The venue will be lit only UV light sculptures (so the ping pong balls glow) and anyone caught canoodling will be shamed by the blacklight bouncers.”
