If like us, you’re starting to feel the excitement of the holiday season approaching, then London is definitely THE place to be if you’re looking to indulge yourself. We’ve managed to squish together our top 5 (there are many more) reasons to visit the capital this winter, and so just to give you a taster of some of the brilliant things that could await you…here we go!
1. The big Christmas Shop
Whatever your budget and whatever your age - London HAS to be the place to come for your Christmas shopping. From the big names of Bond Street and the bright lights of Oxford Street in the West End, through to the charming streets of London ‘villages’ like Marylebone, St Johns Wood and Clapham, or even the complete entertainment centres at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City – you’ll have no end of “retail opportunities” for present buying. And even if you have spent all of your money on Crimbo prezzies, you can check out the amazing festive window displays at the big stores or pop along to the iconic Hamley’s toy store to unleash your inner child. And as for our favourite shopping venue…well, it just has to be Selfridges – stylish, central and with a champagne bar to die for where you can celebrate your fantastic purchases!!
2. West End shows
Nothing says Christmas like a trip to a West End theatre, and our favourite Mamma Mia will bring a bit of Greek summer cheer to the coldest wintry London day. So put on your glad rags and head to the West End for a glamorous night out, or how about making it a family affair and bring along the kids to shout ‘he’s behind you!!!’ at a seasonal Pantomime. Either way you’re bound to get into the festive spirit.
3. Ice skating
During the festive season ice rinks pop up all over London but our favourite is still at elegant Somerset House. This is one of London's most beautiful outdoor ice rinks and the partnership with Fortnum & Mason means it’s a very classy experience… more Champagne anyone!? It’s open all day and well into the evening, when the rink comes alive with special club nights featuring top DJ’s.
4. Festive flights on the London Eye
Now available for the festive season only: why not try the Frosty Guided Experience where your capsule will be transformed into a frosty, winter cave with the sounds of crackling ice and wind. Identify the smells of Christmas and take in the ice-like structures. Or returning for another year, our favorite…the Winter Cocktail Experience! This offers three delicious winter cocktails, mixed by your own London Eye host, while you sit back and enjoy the beautiful, twinkling, night-time views of London not once, but twice, on this double rotation experience!
5. Deals, deals, deals!
